Lufan Yang is a first-year PhD student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), advised by Prof.Michael Robben. Lufan was born and raised in Hangzhou, China. He graduated from Nanjing Agricultural University and later obtained master degree from the UIUC Vet Med where he did a masters under Ying Fang studying swine viral disease.
Lufan have background in bioinformatics and wet bench experiments, and research primarily involves analyzing complex biological data, particularly in microbiome studies and understanding interactions between microorganisms and host health. Lufan also passionate about applying machine learning techniques to biological research, with the goal of uncovering insights that can contribute to medical advancements and public health improvements.
